Learning Outcomes:
- Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth.
- Demonstrate that challenges undertaken developing new skills in the process.
During the summer, I have realized how benefiting having an activity can be for myself. Throughout last semester I have not done any sports because I could not find the correct balance between homework and sports. Now, however, I have realized that I do have the time to do both if I stick to a consistent schedule.
I have decided to train Muay Thai in the academia near my house because I think its really fun, it's extremely exhausting, and it does not take up a lot of time. I will go twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday) and train for 1 hour each day. Although it may now sound like much, the workout of Muay Thai is so intense that it would be the same as playing soccer about 3 times a week. In order to commit to this schedule I have decided to renew my Muay Thai apparel, which includes boxing gloves, shin guards and strings.
I believe that this will allow me to keep up with my health and Organization. It will also develop my self discipline and time management.

This summer was quite intense for me because I decided to dedicate time to lots of different things. Since the start of the summer I already knew that studying for the SAT and completing homework was going to be a high priority. Due to this, and the fact that I went back and forth from Lima to the beach, I decided to put off any summer job. However, I did not want to be inactive, therefore, I decided to dedicate lots of time to doing sports.
I concentrated mainly on surfing and mountain biking, two of my favourite sports which I hadn't done in a long time. Due to the fact that I stayed almost all the summer at my beach house, I used the opportunity to surf a lot. From Monday to Friday, I would surf every day from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. This was not only the time when the sea level rised the most, but also the time of the sunset–the best part of the day. Afterwards, every Sunday I would wake up at 6am and head out with my bike instructor to the mountains. Sometimes we went to Pachacamac and other times to the Lomas de Asia. These were 4 hour rides of 50+ kilometres of hazardous terrains, steep slopes, jumps and a intense sun that would drag us down.
In the end, I am very happy with how my summer organization turned out because everything was given a little bit of time. I believe that these summer activities have not only served my health, but also my mind because they relieve me from any stresses and create self discipline.

The first semester of 12th grade has been by far the most challenging and stressful semesters in my life. There has been so much work that I was not able to meet the goal I set out last semester of doing lots of sports and school work at the same time. This is why I decided to find the perfect sport to take up very little time while still being very demanding. I decided this sport was squash because there is a court very near my home and each session does not take more than 1 hour. The good thing about it is that I already knew how to play the sport because I used to play it when I was younger. About 3 times a week I would go with my brother and play a game of 3 sets. It is a really fun and entertaining game, but boy does it leave you dead. With time, I have also been improving my technique and game strategy. For example, at the beginning it was hard for me to deal with the tiny ball bouncing from several walls at once, but now I use that in my favour by sending the ball such that it bounces from the front wall and the back wall in one shot without touching the floor. My serve has also improved because I am now able to direct the ball to the back corner of my opponents court which makes it a harder ball for them to respond. All in all, I am very satisfied with the results of this new plan as now I am able to complete my work and also feel healthy.
